Teacher, Consultant, Mentor

Liz brings long years of study and practice to her mindfulness teaching and to her consulting. She offers mindfulness groups, individual instruction, group training and one-to-one mentoring to people of all ages.

The foundations of her teaching lie in her many years as a classroom teacher. Liz believes that we can all benefit from supportive community, self-compassion and even a bit of playfulness.

As an educator, Liz has extensive experience in therapeutic early childhood education, special education and general education classroom teaching. She has been a leader and innovator in the mindfulness in education movement. As a teacher in the Mamaroneck, NY Public Schools, Liz began exploring mindfulness within her own classroom, gradually sharing her experiences with others. She spearheaded and provided ongoing leadership to a multi-year district initiative.

Liz now provides consultation to a range of organizations with the goal of integrating mindfulness, compassion and social emotional learning within communities, schools, and families.

Liz earned a Masters in Education from the Bank Street Graduate School of Education. She trained with the St. Luke’s Hospital Department of Child Psychiatry, the Child Development Center of the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services, the Educational Institute for Learning and Research, the Inner Resilience Program, the Mindful Education Institute, Mindful Schools, Call to Care, Little Flower Yoga, Yale’s Ruler program and the Mindfulness Training Institute. In 2021-2022 she participated in a 10 month dharma teacher mentoring program led by Pamela Weiss and Erin Treat. She continues to study with her primary meditation teachers, Pamela Weiss, Megan Cowan and Chris McKenna. Liz holds teaching certification from the New York State Education Department, and certification as a mindfulness teacher through the Mindfulness Training Institute, Mindful Schools and Little Flower Yoga.

She is mentor to trainees attending the Mindfulness Training Institute.
